Exophoric language

This thought is half-formed:

Anaphora and Cataphora
Expression that refers to another entity or expression
Interesting: isn’t language by definition anaphoric/cataphic
Interesting: the exophoric membrane.  I mean this differently than linguists use the term.  exophora in my reading are places where language interacts with non-language.  Language is by definition exophoric; the standard understanding of language abstracts from this interface in a way that is linguistically and artistically useful but can be obfuscatory.
